Dr Sylvia RamirezDr. Sylvia Ramirez, the Medical and Scientific Director of Cutis Medical Laser Clinics, has always been passionate about making a difference in people’s lives, one treatment at a time. Driven by her passion for skin health and delivering innovative aesthetic solutions, Dr. Sylvia conducts thorough patient consultations and her own treatment research, as well as invests in continuous education and training.

Aesthetic Medicine

Dr. Sylvia undertook specialized training in aesthetic medicine and obtained a degree in Dermatology from Cardiff University. She also completed specialized Physician Training and Certification in Age Management Medicine and became certified in Age Management Medicine by the Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation (AMMERF), USA.

In addition, Dr. Ramirez graduated in 2018 with Distinction from the Master of Science - Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics from the Anglia Ruskin University, UK, a program that allows practitioners to stay updated with the technologies and techniques. She was also a regional trainer for a global aesthetic company that provides laser and energy-based devices used for aesthetic treatments.

Her dedication to proven, effective, and safe treatments is evident in her role as the Medical and Scientific Director of Cutis Medical Laser Clinics. Dr. Ramirez is known for her meticulous attention to detail and patient-centric approach.

Dr. Sylvia was honored to be one of the speakers invited at the Allergan Aesthetics Asia Journal Club with Authors. She shared valuable insights on ethics in aesthetics, based on her recently published paper, "The Primacy of Ethics in Aesthetic Medicine: A Review".

The event focused on continuing education for aesthetic medicine and topics that are reshaping aesthetic medicine. It has brought together 3,000+ doctors from 9 countries, coming together to learn and grow.

The Aesthetic Medicine & Surgery Conference & Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur 2024

Dr. Sylvia gave two insightful presentations at the Aesthetic Medicine & Surgery Conference & Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She talked about "Transformation 360 with Allergan Aesthetics Portfolio", a project that utilized Allergan's full portfolio to reveal the power of true transformation. She also discussed key insights from our recently published paper "The Primacy of Ethics in Aesthetic Medicine".


VYC-12 Relaunch by Allergan Aesthetics

Dr. Sylvia spearheaded the scientific training of the highly anticipated relaunch of VYC-12 by Allergan Aesthetics. This involves 6 exclusive workshops for doctors across Singapore and Malaysia, with Dr. Sylvia sharing her expertise on the benefits of Volite and how it can be combined with treatments for optimal results.


Digital AMI, the dedicated WeChat channel of Allergan Aesthetics in China 2024

Dr. Sylvia was the first international physician invited to present for Digital AMI, the dedicated WeChat channel of Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company in China. Held at the Allergan Shanghai Innovation Center, the event featured a series of educational videos produced for China’s largest online medical education platform.


2024 Medical Aesthetics Compliance and Innovation Forum (part of the Shanghai International Advertising Festival)

Dr. Sylvia Ramirez presented her insights on the Primacy of Ethics in Medical Aesthetics at the 2024 Medical Aesthetics Compliance and Innovation Forum, part of the Shanghai International Advertising Festival. This presentation was in large part based on her (and other esteemed colleagues’) recently published paper on ethics in medical aesthetics.

The forum was attended by physicians and CEOs from both private and public hospitals, advertising practitioners as well as policymakers from both Shanghai and Beijing. This emphasized the importance of compliance, innovation, and, most critically, ethical practices in medical aesthetics.

Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) MasterClass 2024 in Shanghai

Dr. Sylvia shared knowledge and insights, as well as learned from esteemed physicians in China at the Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company Medical Institute (AMI) MasterClass. She talked about improving muscle masseter protrusion (hypertrophy) using onabotulinumtoxinA.

Allergan Aesthetics Conference in Hong Kong 2024

Dr. Sylvia took the stage at the Allergan Aesthetics Conference in Hong Kong to talk about the “Innovative Combination of Volite with EBDs” and the “Intriguing Comparison of Botulinum Toxin Immunogenicity”.

In one of Allergan's largest meetings in Hong Kong, Dr. Sylvia had the opportunity to discuss valuable insights and share the stage on a panel with esteemed colleagues like Professor Walter King and Dr. Nelson Chang.

Dr Sylvia was the only non-Hongkong guest speaker at said conference, celebrating the Power of 3. These include the outcomes of combination treatments of botulinum toxin, dermal fillers ,and a new hybrid hyaluronic acid/calcium hydroxylapatite fillers, which results in significant collagen stimulation and lifting.

Dr. Sylvia presented her research on the effects of combining CaHA fillers and MFU-V at the Reset Symposium: Regenerate with Radiesse. The event showcased the versatility of CaHA fillers for volumizing and biostimulating, with Dr. Sylvia's research focusing on addressing brachial laxity (upper arm skin laxity) and lower face rejuvenation.

“The Art of Graceful Ageing” at Tatler’s Exclusive Event with Raffles City

Dr. Sylvia participated in an illuminating fireside chat at the Tatler x Raffles City event to talk about “The Art of Graceful Ageing”. She delved into important topics about skincare and skin aging, including the most prevalent skin concerns, factors that accelerate aging, active ingredients for improving skin health, treatments that support graceful aging, and navigating the saturated skincare market.

Dr. Sylvia also delivered three talks at the Aesthetic Medicine World Congress (AMWC) Asia & Taiwan Dermatology Aesthetic Conference (TDAC) 2024. She’s one of the industry experts invited to share her knowledge and provide valuable insights into (1) the use of neurotoxin in treating the masseter muscles; (2) enhancing skin Quality with microneedling therapy; and (3) the use of skin boosters in improving skin quality and treatment results of energy-based devices.

Dr. Sylvia also represented the medical aesthetics category at AbbVie's "Language of Patients - From the Inside Out" in Singapore. This global project by AbbVie and Allergan Aesthetics highlighted the importance of aesthetic doctors understanding the language of their patients. Other key themes that resonated at the talk included patient-driven choices, the impact of social media, and the necessity of shared decision-making.


She was also featured on Allergan Aesthetics’ “Meet the Experts” sessions and presented “From Simple to Regal – Transformation with the Full Allergan Aesthetics Portfolio” at the Anti-Aging and Aesthetics Medicine World Congress (AMWC) 2024 in Monaco. This project offers a full 360 view of the aesthetic experience, showcasing the important role of patient assessment and consultation process in achieving optimal outcomes.

She also taught via Zoom in an Allergan Aesthetics event primarily intended for New Zealand doctors. Her focus was the science of medical aesthetics, particularly the immunogenicity of different botulinum toxin formulations. She also answered questions in an expert panel discussing the immunogenicity of botulinum toxin and the management of delayed onset nodules from dermal fillers.

She shared her insights on the Allergan 360 approach during the Society of Aesthetic Medicine (SAM) Conference in Singapore. This offers a full 360 view of the aesthetic experience and is designed to elevate the practice of medical aesthetics.

Dr. Sylvia also participated in continuous educational conferences such as at the 2023 Cadaver Workshop by Allergan Aesthetics.

General Medicine

Dr. Sylvia completed her training in Paediatric Nephrology at the Children’s Hospital in Boston, Harvard Medical School and obtained Masters in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. After then, she became Assistant Professor at National University of Singapore. It is where she developed and implemented a comprehensive approach to the prevention of kidney and related diseases.

In addition, Dr Sylvia established a national kidney disease and diabetes prevention program for both the adult and paediatric populations in Singapore. She has also chaired the First International Summit on Prevention of Kidney and Related Diseases (Singapore), and has chaired other international scientific congresses.

Dr. Ramirez has also served as Project Director for multiple health policy projects in the United States. She is also a principal investigator for an international study in 19 countries looking at improving practice patterns in providing chronic disease care.

With the background of academic medicine, chronic disease and population-based care, and based on her numerous scientific publications, Dr. Ramirez recognized the importance of making a difference at the individual patient level.
