What is a Thread Lift?
Aging results from a combination of changes in our bone and soft tissue resulting in laxity and volume loss. This is seen as sagging of the jawline and jowl formation, deepening of the nasolabial folds and overall “dropping” appearance of the face. Because of there are several factors that contribute to the aging face, combination of treatments would be important to create a naturally rejuvenated look. One of these components is the use of “lifting procedures”.
We can create a lift through lasers or light treatments, as well as through the use of properly placed dermal fillers. Another option is through the use of a thread lift, which is a minimal invasive face lifting procedure to gently lift sagging facial skin to produce a smoother, more youthful appearance.
The thread-lift procedure involves very fine surgical sutures being inserted in to the soft tissue of the face to lift and support sagging areas for a more subtle rejuvenation. This process helps to raise the outer brow area, reduce jowling along the jawline, and reduce sagging in the cheeks, naso-labial folds and the lower eye areas.
The thread-lift may be a less invasive alternative to a face lift to rejuvenate the face without the risks and downtime associated with surgery.

What is Silhouette Soft?
Silhouette Soft® is a technological innovation offering patients what no treatment has ever provided in such a simple way: a redefined face, restored volume and reduced wrinkles by means of a 30-minute treatment at their doctor’s, for a result lasting up to 18 month.
Silhouette Soft® comes in the form of bidirectional absorbable thread cones. It is made in the United States and its development is based on six years of experience in suture suspension with cones used in reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. It is also the only absorbable US FDA approved thread.
The natural substance of Silhouette Soft® – polylactic acid (or PLA) – has been used for many years in various pharmaceutical and medical applications such as suture thread, orthopaedic pins, screws and nails for bone fractures, and many others without complications. It is also used in new biodegradable stent trials.
How does it work?
The Silhouette Soft®is a unique procedure that combines lifting and regenerating effects. These two actions combat the signs of aging by restoring smoother more toned skin and a more defined and shapely face. The lifting effect is immediate and discreet as it is the result of compressing and elevating tissue at the time of adjusting the suture.
The regenerative effect is gradual and natural. Once the suture is applied, the polylactic acid acts on the deeper layers of the skin and helps increase the volume of saggy areas, restoring shapeliness to the face gradually and perfectly naturally.
What happens during a SILHOUETTE SOFT® procedure?
Applying Silhouette Soft® takes around 30 minutes and should only be done by a certified physician.
After a small local anaesthetic, we insert the suture under the skin to a depth of about three to five millimetres. No incision is required, as the suture is inserted using a very fine needle. It is held in place with absorbable cones oriented in opposite directions otherwise called bidirectional.
Once the suture has been applied, we perform slight compression of the tissue to reshape it by hand and to obtain the desired lifting effect. The non-inserted ends of the suture are cut off. One or more sutures may be applied, depending on the patient and treated area.
Silhouette Soft® can be used as a single treatment or in combination with fillers and botulinum toxin.
