The year 2023 helped us evolve in a lot of ways. We stayed true to our goal of helping patients achieve their body and skincare goals with evidence-based and scientifically proven aesthetic procedures. We’ve also introduced new treatments, such as CoolSculpting Elite, Secret DUO, and HydraMaster, to continuously provide our valued patients with aesthetic technologies and innovations aimed to improve safety and outcomes.
This year proved to be a happy and fruitful year for everyone at Cutis. As we pause and reflect, here are some of our favorite memories from 2023:
In FEBRUARY, Dr. Sylvia interviewed Dr. Jani, Global Radiesse KOL and founder of UMA Training Institute, about the differences in treating male and female patients, as well as the trends in medical aesthetics.
In MARCH, Dr. Sylvia discussed with Dr. Jason Rivers, one of the most prominent dermatologists in North America, the overview of the harmony study, which is one of the most important studies in the field of aesthetics. This study aims to evaluate aesthetic impact and satisfaction achieved with a multimodal approach by combining minimally invasive treatments.
In MAY, Dr. Sylvia delivered a talk via Zoom about the trends in aesthetics at the Aesthetic Medicine World Congress (AMWC) Asia & Taiwan Dermatology Aesthetic Conference (TDAC). She presented Allergan Aesthetics’ The Future of Aesthetics Global Trends Report, a research project developed in partnership with some of the world’s leading aesthetic practitioners and key opinion leaders.
This month was also when CoolSculpting Elite was launched in Singapore. Dr. Sylvia played a key role in this event, as she moderated a panel discussion of regional experts who have had experience using the fat freezing system.
Dr. Sylvia, moreover, attended the Allergan Refine Meeting in Osaka, where she cast a spotlight on the pressing issue of Ethics in Medical Aesthetics. Ethics is recognized as one of the 10 trends in Allegan’s Future of Aesthetics Trends Report.
In JUNE, we launched CoolSculpting Elite at Cutis, which is a revamped fat freezing system that offers a new experience for effectively reducing stubborn fat bulges.
In JULY, Dr. Sylvia attended the 25th World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) Singapore. At the event, she delivered a talk on her published study “Effectiveness of Combined Microfocused Ultrasound with Visualization and Subdermal Calcium Hydroxyapatite Injections for Brachial Skin Laxity Management”.
In addition, Dr. Sylvia’s paper “Characteristics of Patients Seeking and Proceeding with Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetic Procedures,”, which was published in the Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology in 2021, was presented as an e-poster at the WCD 2023 event.
In SEPTEMBER, Dr. Sylvia participated in the Cadaver Workshop by Allergan Aesthetics. She, alongside fellow key experts, delved into facial anatomy to enrich their proficiency in the art and science of aesthetics. Dr. Sylvia also taught 180 Allergan trainers and KOLs from Asia Pacific, sharing her expertise in the science of the products, in particular Botox®.
In OCTOBER, our team members Sindy and Fan celebrated their 15th anniversary and Cruziel her 10th anniversary.
It was also the month when Dr. Sylvia gave a talk about Ethics in Aesthetics, including the Ethical Challenges of Aesthetic Medicine at the GlobalHealth Asia-Pacific Aesthetics Conference & Awards 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
In addition, Dr. Amoudtha Rasendran and Dr. Cecilia X Chen participated in the Allergan Medical Institute’s (AMI) 360 Approach to Injectables Program.
In NOVEMBER, Secret DUO, a multi-platform device for skin remodeling, became available at Cutis. This dual laser device combines radiofrequency (RF) microneedling and 1540 nm erbium glass laser for enhanced skin remodeling.
It was also in November when Dr. Sylvia was invited to join the Global Advisory Board for Botox® in Miami. She also delivered a talk about “Ethics in Aesthetic Medicine” at the Allergan Aesthetics Week 2023 in Manila.
Moreover, Dr. Sylvia participated in a project in collaboration with Allergan Aesthetics. This offers a full 360 view of the aesthetic experience and is designed to elevate the practice of medical aesthetics to new heights.
Dr. Amoudtha Rasendran and Dr. Cecilia x Chen, furthermore, participated in an advanced hands-on Ultherapy workshop by the Merz Aesthetics Team, where they gained valuable insights and skills in essential techniques.
In DECEMBER, HydraMaster, a 14 in 1 hydra dermabrasion platform, was launched at Cutis. This is a revamped HydraFacial device that provides cleansing, extraction, and hydration to enable effective treatments with impressive results. HydraMaster works well as a standalone treatment or a pre-treatment solution for various rejuvenation procedures.
It was also this month when Dr Sylvia was invited to participate in the Allergan Bold Study, a non-interventional research initiative. The BOLD study will commence in January 2024.
