7 Ways to Get Your Skin Back on Track After the Holiday Season

We’ve all indulged this holiday season. All the celebrations and gatherings gave us an excuse to eat and drink more than usual and stay up late at night to join the festivities. Many of us may have also skipped our skincare routines and dealt with increased stress that may have paved the way to various skin issues. So, this New Year, it is time to evaluate the state of your skin to find out how the chaos of the holiday season has affected it. This is also the perfect time to find out how your routine can be improved and what you can do to revive and nurture your skin after an eventful holiday season.

1. Cleanse and moisturize

The holiday stress, along with lots of sweets, salty foods, and alcohol, can take a toll on your skin and cause irritation. Make sure to use a gentle face cleanser both morning and night and follow up with a moisturizer that suits your skin type. You can also add a brightening or anti-aging serum before your moisturizer, depending on what your skin needs.

If you had breakouts over the holidays, use a spot treatment with benzoyl peroxide. Resist the urge to pick, pop, or squeeze your pimples, as doing so can increase the likelihood of scarring. Stick to what you know works for you and be patient. Also, make sure to avoid using different products to make your pimples go away sooner.

2. Take a break from cosmetics

The holidays can demand so much from your skin, especially with prolonged and constant use of heavy foundation and other long-wear cosmetic products. So, this 2025, you can take a break from your social calendar and skip the makeup to give your pores a break. This can benefit your skin health by reducing the risk of irritation and clogged pores.

You can try going makeup-free for a week and see if you like the results. If you cannot do so, keep your makeup to a minimum and don’t pile products on, especially if you have acne. Also, make sure to clean your makeup brushes and applicators at least once a week and don’t skip on your daily and nighttime skincare routine.

3. Get your sleep back on track

We’re all guilty of staying up late at night and cutting back on sleep to keep up with the festivities. If all the partying and late-night slumbers did a number on your skin in the form of puffiness, dark circles, and zits, it is time to get your sleep back on track. Some of the things that can help include:

  • Go to bed and get up approximately at the same time every day (including weekends).
  • If you spend your holidays staying up late and waking up later, make adjustments in 15- or 30-minute increments over a series of days.
  • Get daylight exposure as soon as you wake up. Take a walk in the morning, spend some time near a window, or make your room as bright as you can if you cannot go outside.
  • Engage in regular physical activity. Just make sure to avoid high-intensity workouts right before bedtime.
  • Limit the time you spend in bed trying to sleep or get back to sleep. If you can’t sleep within 30 minutes, get up and do something else until you feel sleepy.

4. Limit or cut back on alcohol

Ever heard of Dry January? It is a practice of skipping alcoholic drinks during the first month of the year to be healthier. Anyone who wants to cut back from drinking can engage in this challenge, as well as those who have drank more than usual during the holidays and want to build healthier habits.

It is also ideal to start your day with a glass of water and drink lots of it throughout the day. You can also add a slice of lime or lemon for a bit of flavor. Choosing water over alcohol can also have several benefits, such as sleeping better and having more energy, as well as clearer skin.

5. Rejuvenate tired skin with a facial mask

Treat your skin to an intensive rejuvenation and deep repair mask once a week or every few days like Dr. Sylvia’s Skin Revival Mask. Featuring a potent blend of natural extracts and skin boosting-ingredients, it works to restore hydration, brighten the skin, and promote a healthier-looking complexion.

Benefits include:

  • Replenishes moisture for supple and radiant skin
  • Reduces dullness and improves skin tone for a luminous glow
  • Supports cell renewal and enhances skin resilience
  • Calms and smooths, reducing redness and irritation
  • Provides antioxidant protection to fight free radicals

6. Consult a skincare expert or an aesthetic doctor

Want to get more serious about skin care? See an aesthetic doctor to help plan your regimen and find out what products or treatments will benefit your skin the most. This is especially true if you’re dealing with skincare concerns that don’t seem to improve with topical products.

Book a consultation with one of our aesthetic doctors in Singapore. At Cutis, we create a bespoke treatment plan tailored to your needs, combining innovative technologies and proven techniques. Whether you’re looking to prevent early signs of aging, restore your glow, or rejuvenate your appearance, we got you covered.

7. Consider a collagen-boosting treatment

At Cutis Medical Laser Clinics, we are proud to introduce Ultherapy PRIME, a revamped version of the original Ultherapy device. This works the same way, using microfocused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V) to lift the skin on the face, brow, neck, and decolletage, but with new features, such as vivid imaging and faster processing power.

Ultherapy PRIME in Singapore builds on the original technology to provide a truly personalized lasting lift. Here are the features that make it unique:

  • US FDA-approved for the eyebrows, neck, chin, and chest
  • Boosts collagen and elastin
  • Natural-looking and lasting results
  • Safe for all skin types
  • One session, truly personalized
  • Zero downtime, minimal discomfort
  • Visible results that improve over time

It delivers MFU-V to treat the layers targeted in a traditional facelift or where laxity begins. This triggers the body’s natural regenerative response, stimulating collagen and elastin. The result is a naturally-looking lifted and tightened skin in the treated area. This can refresh and energize your appearance after the holidays.

We also have other non-surgical collagen-boosting treatments, such as

  • Hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable – deeply hydrates the skin to improve its glow and smoothness.
  • Bio remodeling injectable – restores hydration, addresses laxity, and improves overall skin quality.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite or CaHA fillers – for improving signs of aging, including folds and wrinkles, replenishing volume loss, and facial contouring.
  • Laser skin rejuvenation – helps reverse sun damage, signs of aging, facial redness, and brown spots, promoting a vibrant, healthy-looking complexion.
  • Dermapen 4 microneedling – restores your skin to its optimal health. It can rejuvenate the skin and treat a number of skin conditions, including scars, wrinkles, sun damage, and other signs of aging.
  • Secret DUO – remodels the skin through gentle resurfacing and collagen production. It can help address scarring, skin laxity, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, eye bags, and double chin.
