Bask in the Pearly Glow of Cutera Pearl Laser Resurfacing Treatment

Laser technology has advanced to a point where it could literally erase years off our face. With this technology, we don’t have to live with scars, fine lines, sun damage, large pores and uneven texture anymore and get you a pearly glow.

Gently Removing Sun-Damaged Skin with Laser

Cumulative sun damage can leave the skin leathery and wrinkled, making it look far older than it actually is. Laser clinics in Singapore offer Cutera Pearl treatments to patients who want to undo some sun damage they have sustained in their younger years.

The Pearl is a proprietary treatment by Cutera that uses precise concentrated beams of light to remove the topmost layer of the epidermis while heating the dermis to stimulate production of new and healthy skin.

This means that if you have a splotchy or pigmented face because of sun exposure, you can literally erase those sun spots off with Pearl laser resurfacing treatment, as per evaluation by a skin care specialist.

But it’s not only sun damage that the Pearl can improve: It is also approved by the US FDA for the skin treatment of freckles, scars, and wrinkles, so if you want complete skin rejuvenation in one or two sitting, you might want to consider the Pearl as a cost-effective and highly efficacious alternative.

Face Wrinkles Treatment with the Pearl

Wrinkles that you think are deep enough to be irreversible can be improved by one or two Pearl sessions. This is because the Pearl acts as a collagen treatment, leaving a volumizing effect up to 6 months after the procedure. It achieves this by heating the dermal layer of the skin, stimulating collagen production at the cellular level.

In various clinical studies, the perioral (lines around the mouth) and periorbital lines (around the eyes) as well as crow’s feet see marked improvement after just one treatment. These are the areas that early signs of aging normally appear.

So if you are not yet ready for Botulinum Toxin (or more commonly known as Botox) or dermal fillers but want to smooth out visible facial lines, the Pearl serves as your no surgery wrinkle treatment until the wrinkles are deep enough to warrant dermal fillers.

What to Expect Before and After the Pearl Treatment

The Pearl is performed by a dermatologist in an aesthetic laser clinic as an outpatient procedure usually lasting 45 minutes if only a part of the face is treated, or two hours if all of the face is treated. In Singapore, a laser clinic in Orchard area offers this treatment as a lunchtime or after-office procedure.

Numbing cream is applied to the treatment area to reduce the stinging sensation, and the doctor can even prescribe other types of anaesthesia if a larger part of the face is going to be treated. Laser resurfacing treatments usually have a recovery period of less than 7 days, with the Pearl treatment requiring up to 4 days of downtime.

Exposure to sunlight before and especially after the treatment should be avoided for several weeks because laser makes the skin more vulnerable to UV rays. If you need to go outdoors, generously slather broad-spectrum sunscreen that has at least an SPF of 30 and wear physical blocks such as wide-brimmed hats, umbrella and UVA sunglasses that wrap around the head.

Otherwise, avoid the sun altogether. Also avoid using harsh skin care products until after the skin heals. This is to minimize irritation which could prolong the recovery period. If there’s still any redness a few weeks after the treatment, it can be concealed by mineral makeup.
