Dr. Sylvia Delivers 3 Talks at the AMWC Asia-TDAC 2024

Our very own Dr. Sylvia shared her expertise and delivered three talks on innovative topics about facial aesthetics at the Aesthetic Medicine World Congress (AMWC) Asia & Taiwan Dermatology Aesthetic Conference (TDAC) on the 25th and 26th of May.

AWMC Asia returned to Taipei for the 6th edition with a focus on evidence-based research. Dr. Sylvia was one of the industry experts invited to share her knowledge and provide valuable insights into the use of neurotoxin in treating the masseter muscles, skin rejuvenation using microneedling, and the use of skin boosters in improving skin quality and treatment results. 

Below is a brief rundown of Dr. Sylvia’s talks at the conference.

Starting from Evidence: Masseter Muscle Prominence

Sponsored by Allergan Aesthetics, this talk highlighted the versatility of OnabotulinumtoxinA for treating the masseter muscles. Dr. Sylvia’s presentation explored the benefits of this approach, which not only provides aesthetic enhancements but also relief from functional issues. She explained that OnabotulinumtoxinA can effectively address teeth grinding (bruxism) by: 

• relaxing overactive masseter muscles
• reducing the force of clenching and grinding to protect teeth 
• alleviating pain

• be an effective part of treating Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ)
• be utilized to create a more slender and V-shaped lower face by carefully reducing the bulk of the masseter muscles

Enhancing Skin Quality with Microneedling Therapy

Presented in collaboration with DermapenWorld, this medical affair symposium focused on the potential of microneedling for comprehensive skin revitalization. Dr. Sylvia discussed how collagen induction therapies, particularly with US FDA-cleared Dermapen 4 can stimulate collagen synthesis and refine both skin tone and texture. 

This minimally invasive technique utilizes fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering a cascade of natural healing responses. By strategically targeting multiple skin layers, microneedling offers a customizable approach to address a wide range of aesthetic concerns:

• Dermal remodeling
