Fill Out Volume in a Thin, Skinny Face Using Dermal Fillers

Plump, vibrant skin is a sign of vitality. If your face has thinned with age or if you have a naturally skinny face, injectable filler can restore volume for a more youthful look.

There are several different types of facial fillers on the market, each with their own set of benefits. Learn how the process of face contouring with fillers can ‘refresh’ your face.

The Skinny on Dermal Fillers

Injectable dermal fillers have many uses. They can plump thin lips, smooth wrinkles, enhance shallow contours, and soften facial creases. When administered by a professional, face filler can even improve the appearance of recessed scarring.

As we age, our faces gradually lose subcutaneous fat. As the facial muscles are forced to work closer to the skin, fine lines and wrinkles often become more visible. With age also comes the natural stretching of the skin, which can worsen the loss of facial volume.

When injected into the skin, dermal fillers fill the soft tissue under the skin. There are both synthetic and natural fillers available as well as absorbable and non-absorbable options.

The number of injections and the depth of these injections depend on the type of filler injected and the look you’re trying to achieve. To make the treatment comfortable, numbing creams will be applied in the area before injecting the filler to minimize discomfort.

After your treatment, you can resume with your normal activities immediately. Also, depending on the type of face filler, the results may last from six months to two years.

Types of Facial Dermal Fillers

At the Cutis Laser Clinics in Singapore, we offer several types of fillers for face. With some types of filler, we may use the “Liquid Lift” technique.

This special technique results in a gentle and natural-looking lift of the facial features, as well as improved eye bags, reduced wrinkles, and a more rested and energetic look. The treatment takes about 30 to 60 minutes and the results are immediate. This technique can also be used with nose fillers and for nonsurgical chin augmentations.

  • Hyaluronic Acid (HA): What makes hyaluronic acid an effective type of filler is that HA is already present in the body. In the human body, HA is responsible for maintaining firm, supple skin. When used as dermal filler, HA has the ability to improve fine lines, eye bags, and nasolabial folds. It can also be used as fillers for cheeks, lips, chin, and the nose bridge.

  • Calcium-Based Microspheres: This type of filler is also similar to the natural minerals found in the body, making it an allergen-free option. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the microspheres and leaves natural collagen in its place. One of the most popular options includes Calcium hydroxylapatite, which plumps up the skin and replenishes lost volume for an immediate improvement in the look of the face.

A thin, skinny face can make a person appear older than they really are. Take years off your face with dermal fillers. Learn more about this skin treatment in Singapore by booking a consultation with our Harvard-trained skin specialist, Dr. Sylvia Ramirez, at the Cutis Laser Clinics.
