For Women: Non-Invasive Treatment Options for Vaginal Laxity

Are you experiencing diminished sexual sensation? Are you experiencing a feeling of “looseness”? Do you find yourself wanting to speak with a medical professional but don’t know where to start?

There is no reason to be embarrassed as what you are experiencing is a common concern of most women. The feeling of “looseness” and loss of sensation are common causes of vaginal laxity, a physical change among women who have had experienced childbirth and are sexually active.

How Common is Vaginal Laxity?

According to a US survey of more than 400 women, nearly half of them reported that the feeling of “looseness” or vaginal laxity is their number one concern and it’s a common physical change women often see and feel following vaginal deliveries. In fact, vaginal laxity is a more common concern than weight gain, urinary incontinence or even stretch marks.

Vaginal laxity occurs when the tissues of the vaginal opening is overly stretched. And just like the skin, the vaginal tissues contain collagen fibers that can be damaged during vaginal childbirth or active sexual activities.

When the tissues are overstretched, there will be loss of sensation and friction, resulting in diminished sexual satisfaction.  This loss of pleasurable sensation during intercourse can affect a woman’s self-confidence, sexual health as well as your relationship with her partner.

The problem with vaginal laxity is that although it is treatable, a majority of the cases remain unreported because most women are not aware that they have it or they’re just too shy to talk about this intimate concern, much less visit a women’s clinic Singapore to seek treatment.

Treatments for Vaginal Laxity

Surgery namely vaginoplasty, is widely known to treat and tighten loose vaginal muscles wherein excess lining or tissues are removed. While surgically tightening the vaginal tissue is possible, the procedure does not guarantee an improved sensation or arousal as sexual desire and response are very complex. Furthermore, reconstructing the vaginal area does not often lead to pleasurable sensation but it can also lead to pain and discomfort.

Kegel exercise is another well-known treatment to improve the pelvic floor muscles such as the uterus and bladder. Kegels exercise is done by squeezing the muscles you use to stop urinating for 3 seconds for 10-15 times in a day. Although Kegels can strengthen the vaginal muscles, it cannot tighten the vaginal tissues close to pre-childbirth tightness.

Thanks to advanced technology, these two methods are no longer the only option to treat vaginal looseness. Non-surgical vaginal tightening procedure are now available in aesthetic clinics in Singapore with minimal to zero risk and downtime.

Non-surgical Vaginal Treatment Options

Nowadays, there are several non-surgical vaginal treatments in the market and they usually differ in the type of technology used. However, it is very important to go to a Board Certified doctor to avoid any disappointing outcomes or side effects.

Unlike surgical vaginal reconstruction procedures, the combination of Geneveve by Viveve and BTL Exilis Elite can tighten the inner and outer vaginal tissues without incisions or tissue ablations.

Geneveve by Viveve

Geneveve is an effective non-surgical vaginal tightening treatment that uses non-ablative (non-wounding) dual-mode monopolar radiofrequency with cryogen cooling to protect the vaginal surface while tightening lax tissues caused by vaginal deliveries or decrease of collagen fibers due to aging.

Geneveve effectively protects the vaginal surface while stimulating collagen production to tighten the inner vaginal tissue. One session of Viveve can done once in a year up to 18 months. One session last for at least 30 minutes. Maintenance treatments are also recommended to restore back the collagen in your “collagen bank”.

BTL Exilis Elite for Labia

BTL Exilis Elite, on the other hand, uses focused thermal RF energy that promotes natural healing and the production of new collagen fibers in the outer vaginal tissue. Exilis can also be used on the labia or lips of the vagina, which includes the labia majora (the larger outer lips) and the labia minora (the small inside lips). The area between the anus and vulva can also be treated to achieve a tightening effect. Most patients feel no pain during treatment, just a warming sensation.

For Exilis, at least 4 sessions are needed for a consistent result. One session last for at least 15 minutes.

The Result

Both Geneveve and Exilis are clinically-proven to increase the feeling of vaginal tightness without surgery and downtime. These treatments are also proven to restore back the feeling of sensation and sexual satisfaction during intercourse.

These changes can not only improve a woman’s overall sexual health but it can also improve her relationship, her confidence and her self-love.
