Everyone sweats – some more, some less. However, people with hyperhidrosis experience excessive sweating that can interfere with their day-to-day life.
Excessive sweating often occurs in the underarm area or on the palms or soles of the feet. While sweating can be embarrassing for some, it can result in other issues like stained clothes. It can also complicate romantic and social interactions. Both Botox and Ultherapy treatment have been found effective in treating heavy sweating in adults.
Botox, or Botulinum toxin type A, is a drug made from a neurotoxic produced by a bacteria known as Clostridium botulinum. A Botox injection into the skin that suffers from excessive sweating has been found to reduce or eliminate moisture.
Botox in Singapore is approved to treat excessive sweating in the underarm area. Once injected at our Botox clinic, the botulinum toxin blocks or interrupts the secretion of the chemical responsible for stimulating the body’s sweat glands, resulting in less sweat.
During the procedure, a fine needle is used to inject a small amount of Botox just under the skin. Depending on the severity of your condition, multiple injections may be needed.
There are several aesthetic techniques that can be used to reduce discomfort, including ice, nerve blocks, or vibration analgesia. While rare, Botox side effects may include muscle weaknesses near the injection site, bleeding, bruising, redness, muscle stiffness, swelling, headache, or flu-like symptoms. Make sure to consult a board certified skin specialist to reduce unwanted side effects.
Originally designed to penetrate the skin to promote collagen growth, Ultherapy is now proven as an effective treatment for armpit or underarm sweating. This ultrasound treatment uses ultrasound waves to target overactive sweat glands found in the underarm area.
Over time, the treatment works to permanently reduce the amount of perspiration excreted from the skin. Results can be achieved in as little as two treatments. The procedure usually takes less than an hour and is performed under local anesthesia.
Once the sweating is under control, most patients find that they only require the occasional maintenance treatment to maintain satisfactory results. The procedure is safe with minimal discomfort. However, some people may experience a mild stinging sensation during treatment.
No recovery is necessary. It’s normal to experience some tenderness or bruising in the treatment area following the procedure. These side effects usually only last a few days and should not be severe enough to interfere with your daily activities.
Heavy sweating is a very real problem that can affect your self-confidence and your daily life. Before trying to hide your condition with bulky sweaters or layers of antiperspirant, try a new treatment.
Both Botox and Ultherapy have helped thousands upon thousands of people reduce or eliminate excessive sweating. These procedures are safe, effective, and require no surgeries or invasive procedures of any kind.
