Look Your Best in Your Wedding: Pre-Bridal Aesthetic Treatments and When to Schedule Them

Looking your best in your wedding should be more than just picking the perfect dress. While what you’ll wear matters, remember to also think about your beauty regimen, so you’ll have smooth, glowing skin on your big day.

Your beauty regimen should involve more than just your regular skin care, facials, manicures, and hair care. If you want to look your absolute best, here are some the aesthetic treatments worth considering, as well as a few things you need to know – especially when to schedule them ahead of time.

1. Get rid of wrinkles with Botulinum toxin injections

Preparing your skin for that camera-ready look is not often easy especially if all you can notice are those deep forehead wrinkles.

To help smoothen visible lines on your forehead, in between the eyebrows and around the eyes, consider having a safe FDA-cleared Botulinum toxin injection (commonly known as Botox).

If you’re worried about looking frozen, rest assured that this can be safely avoided by consulting an experienced aesthetic doctor. Having a natural result is entirely dependent on the dosage and the injection technique of your physician.

This anti-wrinkle procedure has been proven to smoothen out lines on your skin, while also helping you maintain facial mobility giving you a natural and well-rested appearance.

Botox in Singapore works by temporarily blocking the signal from a nerve to a muscle to soften the wrinkles formed due to muscle contractions that are usually caused by frowning, smiling, and squinting.

You can also turn to Botox to minimize the appearance of lines around the lips, lift droopy eyebrows or eyelids as well as “slim” the face when injected at the corners of the jaw.

It can take at least two weeks to see the full effects of the treatment. The results can last for about three to six months and they can last longer with repeated or touch-up treatments, as the muscles become less prominent.

*When should you schedule your Botox procedure?

Like your wedding, scheduling your appointment requires planning. The ideal time to book your Botox appointment is at least four to six months before your wedding (especially if it’s your first time).

It may seem like a long period however, this gives you enough time to assess the effect of the treatment in your skin. Dosage and touch ups can also be safely modified depending on how your skin responds within the following months.

Most importantly, in case you don’t like the effect, the treatment will wear off by the time of your wedding.

2. Lift and tighten your skin with Ultherapy

If you want a tighter and more lifted skin before your wedding without any recovery time, then you may want to try Ultherapy.

With Ultherapy, you won’t have to go under the knife to achieve a more youthful look. Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure cleared by the US FDA to naturally lift and tighten the skin on the face, on the brow and under the chin without surgery.

Ultherapy works by using a device called Ulthera, which uses time-tested focused ultrasound energy that penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin. This then triggers the production of new collagen, which allows your skin to achieve a visible yet gentle lift over time.

Some patients saw an initial lifting effect after the procedure, but do take note that full and significant results appear over two to three months, with continued improvements for up to six months. It is also good to know that there is no downtime and you can immediately return to your normal routines after the session.

*When should you schedule Ultherapy?

Schedule your treatment at least four to six months before your wedding in order for you to achieve the full effect on the day of your wedding.

3. Remove dark eye circles and enhance your facial features with Fillers

Having dark circles and under eye bags can make you look tired and stressed – something that no bride wants to experience. While makeup can hide these problem areas, it requires a lot of coverage and does not provide a long-term result.

For dark circles caused by loss of volume which leads to the formation of a “tear trough” or a sunken area under the eyelid, it can be safely treated by using dermal fillers.

Nowadays, dermal fillers are well-known to be a safe and effective procedure in getting rid of dark circles and under eye bags without surgery. These are safe injectable gels that help to “fill in” and restore lost volume under the eyes as well as other parts of the face.

One type of an eye filler is Juvederm Volbella, a US FDA-cleared dermal filler which lasts for 12 months and is ideal for the under-eye area as it molds very well with the surrounding tissues and has minimal swelling.

Do take note that a consultation with an aesthetic doctor is needed to assess the area.  In some cases, the cheeks are needed to be treated first as this is the foundation of the face and by filling in the cheeks can improve the under eye area.

*When should you schedule Ultherapy?

Book your appointment at least 3 to 4 months in advance. While you can see an immediate results after your eye fillers, it takes 2 weeks for it to be fully blended in your skin. This will also give your skin enough time to accommodate potential bruising after the procedure.

In Cutis, we also schedule a filler review to check how is the area and whether a touch up is necessary.  As mentioned earlier, an in-depth consultation with an aesthetic doctor is needed to discuss your concerns and to assess the areas to be treated.

4. Zap unwanted hair with LHE, IPL and Laser Hair Removal

Getting rid of unwanted hair becomes a lot easier with safe hair removal procedures. At Cutis Laser Clinics in Singapore, we have three hair removal devices designed to treat different skin types.

We use IPL or “Intense Pulsed Light” and LHE or “Light and Heat Energy” for medium to light skin and sensitive skin type patients. On the other hand, Laser hair removal is safe for patients with any skin type and especially for those with darker skin.

All of these procedures are backed by clinical studies for safety and effectiveness. These devices work on the same principle wherein pulses of light energy is delivered on the hair which is absorbed by the melanin or the pigment within the root of the follicle. The light is then converted to heat and destroys the hair follicles.

*When should you schedule your hair removal?

We recommend to book your appointment early around eight to 12 months before your big day. Regardless of the device, you will need at least eight to 12 sessions to see good results.

This is because only about 10 to 15% of hair is permanently treated in a single session. This is the reason why multiple sessions spaced 2 to 8 weeks apart are necessary to achieve good results.

If you’re considering this treatment before your big day and want to have effective results, here are some simple guidelines before booking your appointment.

5. Treat stubborn fat with Cryolipolysis or Vanquish

Non-surgical fat reduction treatments like CoolSculpting and Vanquish can help sculpt your figure and help your look your best on your wedding without cuts and incisions.

Both procedures are ideal for spot treatments and reducing some fat in the upper arm, belly, hips, and thighs.

  • Cryolipolysis – Otherwise known as fat freezing, Cryolipolysis safely reduces stubborn fat in the body without surgery. The cold temperatures trigger natural cell death, which then gradually minimize the thickness of the fat layer. Two well-known devices are CoolSculpting and Z Lipo. Both devices have applicators of different sizes to target fat in the belly, arms, thighs, and chin, as well as smaller fats like bra and knee fat. • Vanquish ME – This uses selective heating through radiofrequency technology to disrupt the fat cells, which then results in fat cell shrinkage and elimination. It can treat the body without any contact to the skin, with the device just hovering the area concern. It can kill the fat cells without affecting the skin or the muscle.

*When should you schedule your fat reduction procedures?

Timing is very important for these treatments as it can take two to three months to see the full effects. A body assessment and consultation with an aesthetic doctor in Singapore will let you know what to expect, how many treatments are needed and which device best suits your goals.

CoolSculpting, Z Lipo and Vanquish are safe, effective and non-invasive fat reduction treatments that provide proven results based on clinical studies. You can check out our post about all about body fat to learn more about these procedures, as well as your options for non-surgical fat reduction.
