Man Up: The Rise of Male Rejuvenation

Women are not the only ones who want to halt the signs of aging; men want to join the trend too. As aging concerns like wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin affect all gender, some men also feel the need to get help (or undergo aesthetic treatments) in fighting visible signs of aging.

While it is true that aesthetic clinics have more women patients, there should be no shame if a man decides to get some work done too. In fact, cosmetic treatments are helping men look younger and more professional, which is beneficial in achieving continued career success.

Gaining competitive edge and the Daddy-do-Over

According to an article from The Washington Post, men in Silicon Valley are turning to procedures like Botox, fillers, and laser treatments to improve their looks. This was not what it was like in the early 90s and 2000s, as people were not so much concerned about their appearance. But now, the tech workers are fitter and look fresh and youthful.

Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, first unveiled his fitter and more muscular physique in 2017 at the Sun Valley Conference. The 56-year-old CEO credited diet, exercise, and sleep, but some experts think that it is not all healthy lifestyle. While this helps, so do injectables, body contouring treatments, and bio-hacking tools like stem cells.

Men wanting to look better and younger also paved the way for the rise of the Daddy-Do-Over trend. This male equivalent of Mommy Makeover also consists of surgical and nonsurgical body and face treatments (usually done in a single procedure). Men undergo these procedures to achieve a more youthful and toned appearance.

Skipping surgical procedures

While surgical facelifts and liposuction are still popular, not everyone wants to go under the knife. If you’re a man and want a younger-looking appearance without cuts, needles, and longer downtime, nonsurgical and non-invasive treatments are for you. These are ideal if you don’t want everyone to know that you’ve had some work done.

For a more contoured body

Instead of getting implants, turn to non-invasive body contouring procedures like fat freezing (Z Lipo and CoolSculpting) to target certain fat bulges. This works by exposing the fat cells to cooling temperatures, which trigger natural cell death or apoptosis. Fat freezing kills and targets only fat cells and reduces the fat’s layer thickness.

There is also a body shaping procedure like ZField Dual for burning fat and building muscles. This uses electromagnetic energy for stimulating targeted muscle contractions. It can be used to tone the abdomen and the buttocks, as well as other areas of the body like the arms, upper legs, and calves.

For wrinkles and volume loss in the face

Don’t fear the Botox. This injectable is safe and effective for reducing the appearance of wrinkles, especially frown and forehead lines. This works by temporarily blocking the signal from nerve to muscle to relax the wrinkles. The procedure can take less than 30 minutes. The results can last for three to six months or longer.

Another injectable that can make you look more youthful are dermal fillers. These are used for restoring lost volume in the face and correcting hollow depressions under the eyes. There are also fillers for contouring the lower face, which are beneficial for a weak chin and jawline area.

For lifting sagging skin

Ultherapy is your nonsurgical alternative to facelift. It uses time-tested ultrasound energy, which is delivered in the skin’s layers, to lift sagging skin. This triggers collagen production in the treated area, resulting in a natural lift of the skin over time. It can be used on the face, on the brow, under the chin, and neck area.

Do take note that Ultherapy cannot replace a surgical facelift or duplicate its results. It is, however, a good alternative if you’re not willing to go under the knife or want to extend the effects of a surgical procedure. It can treat mild and moderate skin laxity, as well as fine lines and wrinkles on the face.
