Meso-Tox: The Combo Treatment for Smoother and Glowing Skin

While Botox and microneedling can improve signs of aging (lines and wrinkles), they act differently. The former smooths the skin while relaxing the muscles, while the latter creates micro-injuries to promote healing and collagen production. Both, however, can be combined for smoother, younger-looking, and glass-like glowing skin.

This combination is referred to as Meso-Tox or “Botox Facial”. At Cutis Medical Laser Clinics, we use the Dermapen 4 device along with small doses of Botox (mixed with MG serum) to perform the treatment. This skin rejuvenating technique can make the complexion look younger and brighter, with less sebum and tighter pores.

Meso-Tox: Combining microneedling and Botox

As Meso-Tox combines two treatments, you can get the benefits of Botox and microneedling in just one session. It can improve signs of aging, stimulate more collagen and elastin, as well as improve dull complexion or uneven skin tone. 

Here’s what you can expect from each treatment:

Dermapen 4 – is an upgraded skin needling device that works faster and delivers safe and efficient skin rejuvenation. Dermapen 4 can vertically pierce the skin with up to 1920 holes per second, creating micro-injuries and micro-fine channels. This activates the healing function of the skin and helps stimulate new collagen production.

Botox – is a popular brand of botulinum toxin injection. It is an FDA-cleared anti-wrinkle treatment that can improve forehead lines, frown lines, and wrinkles around the eyes. It temporarily blocks the signal from a nerve to a muscle to soften and relax the wrinkles. The results can last from 3 to 6 months or longer with touch-up treatments.

What’s different with Meso-Tox?

If a typical Botox procedure involves injecting the product into the muscles, the injection in Meso-Tox is shallow. In this treatment, Botox is used not for erasing or eliminating wrinkles, but for improving overall skin quality. It complements microneedling well as it helps reduce sebum production and has a pore tightening effect.

Meso-Tox starts with cleansing the skin and the application of a numbing cream 30 minutes prior to the procedure. Microneedling is performed first, with the device creating micro-injuries and fine fractional channels. The process of microneedling stimulates collagen and delivers beneficial ingredients into the deep layers.

Then, Botox is combined with MG serum, which is used as a glide for the skin needling treatment. Using this technique, the active ingredient in Botox (and the serum) is infused into the skin’s top layers. You may also be glad to know that there are instances where other serums may be applied over the fractional channels created by Dermapen.

It is also worth noting that patients who are considering Botox but are worried about looking frozen can turn to Meso-Tox. This is because only small doses are used and Botox is delivered at an intradermal level. Looking fake or plastic with regular Botox, however, is completely avoidable, if an experienced injector administers the treatment.
