Pearl Resurfacing: Transform and Rejuvenate Your Skin with a Pearl-Like Glow

Face creams, serums, and other skincare products can only do so much in addressing your imperfections. If you’re dealing with dark spots, wrinkles, and uneven skin texture, an aesthetic procedure like Pearl Skin Resurfacing can make significant improvements. It treats both the dermis and epidermis to give your complexion a pearl-like glow.

The basics of Pearl Skin Resurfacing

Pearl by Cutera is a US FDA-cleared laser that can take years off your face. It removes the top layer of the skin and heats the dermis to stimulate collagen growth. It can give the skin a healthier, smoother appearance by treating or improving:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne marks and scars
  • Age spots
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Uneven skin texture

Pearl Skin Resurfacing treats the outer layer of the skin using pulses of light in a pre-selected pattern. Then, the laser sends heat to the dermis or underlying skin to create micro-injuries and generate collagen production. It resurfaces the damaged layer of the skin while stimulating the formation of new and healthy skin.

The skin will form a natural, protective dressing to reduce downtime during the healing process. It will then peel off after 3 to 5 days, revealing healthier, clearer, and glowing skin. It offers “stem-to-stern” or complete rejuvenation in less than a week. Pearl can treat the entire face, minimizing the required number of procedures.

What can you expect before, during, and after the treatment?

Before: Prior to the actual treatment, the provider/aesthetic doctor will evaluate and cleanse your face. Then follows the application of a topical anaesthetic cream to numb your skin and reduce discomfort. Other numbing medications (lidocaine or oral sedatives) may also be used if needed or if you’re feeling anxious.

During: Once your face is numb, the actual treatment begins with the Pearl handpiece applied to your skin. As the laser light treats and penetrates the skin, you may feel a  series of pinches or a pinching sensation. Pain or discomfort varies, as each patient has varying levels of pain tolerance. The treatment for the entire face can be completed in 20 minutes.

After: Following the procedure, your skin may look sunburned with some slight swelling. You can expect your skin to peel for 3 to 5 days, during which you need to avoid sun exposure and makeup. Be sure not to rub, pick, or scrub your skin. Let it slough off on its own to avoid irritation during the healing process. The downtime is minimal and can take 3 to 4 days.

Results with Pearl Skin Resurfacing

You can expect to see improvements on the third or fourth day or when the skin has peeled off. It can take at least a week or two to see a noticeable improvement in the skin’s clarity, texture, and overall quality. And as the collagen grows or increases in production, results will continue to improve over time.

Pearl gives your skin a healthy, “pearl-like” glow with fewer treatments and less overall recovery time. It can or improve the appearance of aging skin, dark spots, scars, and uneven skin tone and texture. One to two treatments are usually enough to achieve optimal results, although this can still depend on the severity of your concerns.

How it compares to other laser procedures

Pearl provides noticeable results in just one treatment without lengthy social downtime. Fraxel and other fractionated lasers, meanwhile, require at least 4 to 5 treatments to see an improvement. This is because they can only treat a fraction of the problem through tiny zones emitted into the skin.
