Reduce Cellulite with Exilis Ultra 360 and Acoustic Shockwave Therapy

Cellulite or the dimpled skin that commonly appears on thighs and buttocks affects people of all weights and body types. You, however, are more likely to have skin dimpling if you have excess body fat and are sedentary. Cellulite also runs in families, so your risk of having it increases if your mother or grandmother had skin dimpling.

Since cellulite is caused by fat buildup beneath the skin, many believe that losing weight can improve its appearance. While this helps, there are also cases where weight loss can make skin dimpling worse. This is because when you lose some weight, you may be left with saggy skin, which can then make your cellulite more prominent.

So what can I do about my cellulite?

Getting to a healthy weight with diet and exercise can help with cellulite reduction, but it is also a good idea to supplement your efforts with non-invasive treatments. Exilis Ultra in combination with acoustic shockwave therapy (X Wave and Z Wave) can tighten skin and reduce the appearance of dimpled skin without cuts and needles.

Continue reading to find out what you can expect from these nonsurgical treatments:

Exilis Ultra 360

Exilis Ultra is a US FDA-cleared non-invasive procedure that combines radiofrequency with ultrasound technology to address face and body concerns. The treatments are customizable for each patient, as its applicators are versatile and can be used on different body parts. It can reduce fat and wrinkles, tighten the skin, and contour tissues without discomfort and downtime.

For fat and cellulite reduction, the big or the Exilis body applicator is used. It uses the same radiofrequency technology with ultrasound, but features a controlled cooling system. This enables the heat to penetrate into the layers of fat without harming the skin. Exilis also stimulates collagen production to tighten skin and reduce cellulite

Some patients report seeing improvements after one treatment, but on average you need four to eight sessions to see noticeable results. This, however, will still depend on the treated area and your individual profile. Exilis Ultra can also be done alone or combined with acoustic shockwave therapy, which is further explained below.

Acoustic Shockwave Therapy (X Wave and Z Wave)

Harnessing the power of acoustic waves and targeted vibrations, acoustic shockwave therapy can help improve cellulite, scars, and stretch marks. At Cutis Laser Clinics in Singapore, we have two clinically proven acoustic shockwave devices: BTL X Wave and Zimmer Z Wave.

  • BTL X Wave – This induces vibrations in the connective tissues using modified acoustic wave pulses. It breaks down the fat under the skin and stimulates lymphatic drainage to remove toxins and excess fat in the body. X Wave helps in collagen production for improved skin texture, elasticity, and tightening.
  • Zimmer Z Wave – This device reduces cellulite and tightens loose skin by transmitting radial shockwaves into the skin tissues. Z Wave also improves blood circulation and stimulates collagen formation to make the skin firmer and more elastic. You can also combine it with fat freezing (Z Lipo) to improve fat reduction results.

Shockwave therapies like X Wave and Z Wave have a major impact on collagen structure and offer a multiple layer effect. It can improve skin texture and elasticity, as well as provide dermal firming and reduced appearance of loose skin. You may need about 8 to 12 treatments of shockwave therapy to see dramatic results.

Why should you avoid liposuction for cellulite treatment?

Liposuction is the marketed treatment for cellulite, but it doesn’t actually work. In fact, it can make the appearance of skin dimpling worse. This can happen with aggressive liposuction or when too much fat is removed. Fat removal with liposuction can make the skin bumpier than before.

Do take note that while liposuction can contour the body and reduce fat, it cannot firm or tighten loose skin. Liposuction is ineffective for stretch marks and cellulite, as it only removes excess fat deposits. If you already lacked skin elasticity and undergo the procedure, you may be left with more loose skin appearance.
