The Radial Shockwave Device That Can Do More

When it comes to getting rid of stubborn fat bulges that won’t back down despite diet and exercise, non-invasive fat reduction procedures are a great help. CoolSculpting, ZLipo, and Vanquish ME are all effective in gradually reducing the fat layer thickness in the treated area, giving you a more contoured physique.

There is no doubt that the procedures mentioned above destroy fat cells permanently. They, however, need a little help, especially in toning or tightening your skin. This is where the Zimmer ZWave device comes into the picture. It is a non-invasive treatment that can stimulate collagen production and improve overall skin tone and firmness.

So, what exactly is ZWave?

ZWave from Zimmer Aesthetics is an acoustic shockwave treatment that can tighten the skin and reduce cellulite. It uses a handheld applicator that transmits high-energy radial shockwaves beneath the skin surface. ZWave emits both positive pressure pulse and tensile waves to further break down fat cells and tissues that cause skin dimpling.

The body then responds to these radial shockwaves with increased blood flow and lymphatic drainage. It also has a large impact on collagen structure and the skin’s connective tissues, which can then improve the look of cellulite and the results of other fat reduction procedures.

Zimmer ZWave can treat different areas of the body, including the:

  • Belly/abdomen
  • Upper arms
  • Legs
  • Buttocks

ZWave applications

As previously mentioned, ZWave induces targeted vibrations within the connective tissues to break down fat and cellulite. It also stimulates collagen formation, which can significantly improve skin firmness and elasticity.

  • Tighten skin (in general)
  • Reduce the visibility of mild to moderate cellulite
  • Help treat stretch marks and scarring
  • Can be used in combination with non-invasive body contouring procedures (Cryolipolysis and radiofrequency)
  • Helps improve plastic surgery outcomes

It is also worth noting that radial shockwave technology has been used for years in treating certain soft tissue injuries. It is used in aesthetic medicine more recently, such as non-invasive fat reduction, capsular contractures, surgical liposuction, and abdominoplasty. Patients report easier and faster recovery with enhanced results.

How can ZWave enhance body contouring procedures?

ZWave is performed after non-invasive fat reduction/body contouring procedures. It can significantly improve results with Cryolipolysis (fat freezing) and radiofrequency treatments, with various studies showing its effectiveness.

ZWave and improved outcomes

Both Cryolipolysis and radiofrequency fat reduction procedures target fat cells and trigger apoptosis or natural cell death. There are just instances where some of those cells linger a little bit more. ZWave then delivers soundwaves into the tissues to kick those cells out.

The radial shockwaves emitted by ZWave have two parts: positive pressure pulse and tensile wave. Both assist in breaking down the fat left behind after your body contouring treatment. It is also suggested that the use of mechanical pressure waves can trigger different tissue reactions with beneficial effects on tissue structure.

Do take note that it takes two to three sessions to see visible results. You’ll notice smoother and firmer skin. And to complete the treatment, you’ll need six to 10 sessions. Repeat treatments, a balanced diet, and regular exercise help ensure lasting results.

When used in combination with non-invasive fat reduction

A 2013 clinical study documented the enhanced results of combination treatments. It found that patients who had undergone fat freezing (with an initial massage) followed by four ZWave treatments (weekly) had over twice fat reduction results (each week). This is in comparison to those who only had an initial massage after ZWave

According to the study, three-minute acoustic wave treatments immediately after Cryolipolysis resulted in faster fat absorption. This leads to faster visible results than just undergoing CoolSculpting or ZLipo alone.

ZWave can also be combined with fat reduction using heating or radiofrequency like Vanquish ME. When ZWave is directly used following Vanquish ME, it breaks up the destroyed fat cells, resulting in increased fat reduction and enhanced outcomes for your body contouring treatment.

ZWave and surgical procedures

Some doctors also use acoustic shockwave therapy in combination with surgical procedures. It can help maximize the results of liposuction and get additional fat loss. Some also use it for immediate correction and swelling reduction after surgical liposuction.

How Cutis can help

Here at Cutis, we have various fat reduction procedures that use different modalities. We have fat freezing treatments such as CoolSculpting and ZLipo, which use controlled cooling temperatures to target and eliminate fat cells. We also have Vanquish ME, which uses radiofrequency technology to target and melt fat cells.

If you have stubborn fat bulges that don’t respond to diet and exercise, the above procedures are worth considering. We can also complement them with ZWave to further enhance the outcome of your treatment. You can also turn to ZWave to tighten your skin in general and reduce the look of cellulite and stretch marks.

If you’re considering trying such treatments, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Contact Cutis Medical Laser Clinics in Singapore today and schedule a consultation and body assessment with our aesthetic doctor to find out if you’re a good candidate.
