Top 10 Questions About VYC-12 Answered

If you’re considering VYC-12 in Singapore, learning more about the injectable can help you make an informed decision. Continue reading as we dive a little deeper into this treatment and answer the most common questions about it

1. How does VYC-12 work?

VYC-12 uses a high concentration of modified hyaluronic acid. It is administered as microdroplets and injected superficially or underneath the skin’s top layer. The HA formulation diffuses into an even layer across the skin, which then increases hydration and enhances your skin’s radiance.

The microdroplets of HA also release aquaporins, which are water channel proteins and markers of skin hydration. They also boost collagen and elastin production, which strengthens the skin, improves elasticity, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

2. What can VYC-12 do for you?

VYC-12 can enhance your skin from within and give it a youthful glow. Benefits include:

  • Delivers lasting hydration
  • Improves skin texture or smoothness
  • Helps increase elasticity
  • Improves skin barrier function
  • Provides lasting glow
  • Offers natural-looking results

3. How is VYC-12 different from fillers?

While VYC-12 and dermal fillers in Singapore are both injectables and contain hyaluronic acid, they have different purposes. The goal of fillers is to add volume or contour specific areas of the face, while VYC-12 is for boosting hydration and improving skin texture.

Fillers are ideal if you’re looking for more noticeable changes, especially in addressing folds, deeper wrinkles, and volume loss. VYC-12, on the other hand, is for subtle enhancements that focus on enhancing glow and smoothness.

You can, however, combine VYC-12 with injectables such as dermal fillers and botulinum toxin. You can also turn to it to help improve the results of other aesthetic treatments such as peels, lasers, or microneedling. A consultation with an aesthetic doctor will help determine which combination treatments are right for you.

4. When can you see the results?

The results are gradual, but within a few weeks, you may be able to notice improvements in your skin tone, texture, and hydration. The full and glow-enhancing results are more visible three to four months after your last treatment.

5. What results can you expect?

A clinical study from the manufacturer suggests that VYC-12 improves skin smoothness of the cheeks. Those who received the injectable also reported high satisfaction with in relation to:

  • Cheek/skin smoothness
  • Skin hydration
  • Skin glow
  • Refreshed facial skin
  • Healthy skin appearance

The same study revealed that 84% of participants were satisfied with how healthy their skin looked a month after the first treatment (or optional touch-up). Also, 83% were satisfied at 6 months compared to 38% before treatment.

6. How long does VYC-12 last?

The results can last for 6 to 9 months. Patients can get touch-up treatments every 6 to 9 months to maintain optimal results.

7. How many VYC-12 treatments will I need?

A 2- to 3-stage treatment works for most patients. For each treatment, one syringe (1cc) is used and spaced about a month apart. This allows the injectable to work together with the skin’s natural cycle, which is around 28 to 30 days.

8. Does it have downtime?

There is minimal to no downtime. You can usually return to your normal routines shortly after the procedure. You might notice some minor redness or bruising that fades or subsides within a few days.

9. Who is a good candidate for VYC-12?

It enhances the skin from within and improves its overall appearance, making it a great choice for those who are:

  • Over the age of 21
  • Looking for a boost of hydration and minimal wrinkle-smoothing effect
  • Looking to have a brighter, more glowing complexion
  • Looking for lasting results
  • Not looking to change their facial shape, volume, or contours

10. Who can inject VYC-12?

It should only be administered by a licensed and trained medical professional. You should also get the treatment in a medical setting, not a spa or salon. The same is also true for other injectables such as botulinum toxin and dermal fillers.
