Valentine’s Day: Aesthetic Treatments to Look and Feel Your Best

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Whether or not you’re planning to celebrate this occasion with a special someone, it is still a good idea to show the skin you’re in more love and care.

If your complexion has been looking dull, tired, or less radiant these past few days or weeks, our clinic has a range of aesthetic treatments that can offer immediate results with minimal to no downtime on this Valentine’s Day.

HYDRA DERMABRASION (HYDRAFACIAL)

What is it: Commonly referred to as HydraFacial, hydra dermabrasion is a multi-step facial treatment that cleans and nourishes the skin. It gently exfoliates the skin and can help improve a range of skin concerns, such as lines/wrinkles, acne, enlarged pores, and hyperpigmentation.

How it works: Hydra dermabrasion combines water and oxygen to cleanse and exfoliate the skin. It also uses a vacuum-based skin abrasion tip (with a multifaceted spiral contraction), which clears the pores and draws out impurities, while infusing the skin with nourishing serums.

When will you see the results: HydraFacial can be done in just 30 minutes and provides immediate payoff. In fact, many patients report noticeable skin refinements with just a single facial. This is also the reason why hydra dermabrasion is requested before big/special occasions like weddings and red carpets.

How long the results last: The results are not permanent, with hydration and smoothing benefits lasting between 5 and 7 days or longer. It is recommended to have HydraFacial once a month to maintain the results. You can also combine this facial with other non-surgical treatments such as microneedling, RF therapies, and others.

Are there side effects or downtime: There is virtually no downtime after the treatment. There may be some slight redness following the facial, but this disappears quickly. You can also wear makeup and go back to your normal routines immediately after the treatment.

To keep your skin consistently healthy and glowing, you can sign up for our facial rejuvenation subscriptions. We have the Optimal Facial Rejuvenation, which includes treatments that can clarify congestion, exfoliate dead skin cells, and offer anti-aging benefits. We also have the Platinum Facial Rejuvenation, which focuses on anti-aging with non-invasive treatments that can lift and tighten the skin for this Valentine’s Day.

BOTULINUM TOXIN OR BOTOX for Valentine’s Day

What is it: Commonly known as the brand Botox, botulinum toxin is an FDA-cleared anti-wrinkle treatment. It can smooth the look of lines and wrinkles between the brows (angry 11s), foreheads, corner of the eyes, and even around the mouth (smoker’s lines).

How it works: This injectable temporarily blocks the signal from nerves to muscles, so they won’t contract. The muscles then weaken or become paralyzed, which then creates a smooth or softened appearance of those lines, wrinkles, and creases.

When will you see the results: You may be able to see improvements 3 to 4 days after the injection, but you need to wait 2 weeks or 14 days to see the full results. Your injector or aesthetic doctor may even ask you to return after this period to check on your progress.

How long the results last: In general, the effects can last between 3 and 6 months. Lower or smaller doses for Botox can give patients subtle and natural-looking results, but they may only last for 6 to 8 weeks. Higher dosage typically lasts longer and is ideal for deep or prominent wrinkles. Learn the 5 factors that affect how long Botox lasts.

Are there side effects or downtime: Minor bruising is a common side effect, but this should improve after a few days. There is little to no downtime and you can immediately go back to your normal routines in most cases.

DERMAL FILLERS for Valentine’s Day

What is it: Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that can help restore volume loss and smooth lines and creases. They are commonly known for plumping up the lips, but they have other uses such as improving dark circles and eye bags, smoothing nasolabial folds, and improving facial contours. They are commonly made with hyaluronic acid or HA (Juvéderm) and calcium hydroxylapatite or CaHA (Radiesse).

How it works: Fillers rejuvenate the skin by imitating a naturally occurring substance in the body (like HA or CaHA). They boost the skin’s supply of the said substance, which fills in the volume loss or gaps due to fold, lines, and creases.

When will you see the results: You may be able to see the changes almost immediately, but you need to wait 2 weeks for the full results. This is the time it takes for the fillers to blend and fully settle with the surrounding tissues.

How long the results last: The results can last between 6 months and 2 years, depending on the type of fillers used, the treatment site, and the patient. You can also choose to reverse or “undo” dermal filler injections if you’re not happy with the results. This only applies to HA- or hyaluronic acid-based fillers (Juvéderm) and is done by injecting an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This dissolves the particles of HA.

Are there side effects or downtime: There may be swelling or bruising at the injection site, but you can resume most activities almost immediately. Just be sure to avoid intense exercise or physical activities 24 to 48 hours after the injection. Check out our previous post for 7 ways to reduce and prevent bruising from Botox and fillers

VI PEEL

What is it: VI Peel is a medical-grade peel that can improve the tone, texture, and quality of your skin. Its synergistic blend of active ingredients provides a deep peeling effect without the discomfort and downtime associated with other types of chemical peels. It can address a range of skin concerns, including acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation, lines and wrinkles, and dull skin.

How it works: VI Peel creates micro-damage on the skin’s outermost layer. It then helps with exfoliation, causing it to peel off. It also promotes new tissue growth and stimulates the production of collagen, improving a range of conditions. Once the peeling is over, you’ll notice a healthier and more radiant complexion.

When will you see the results: You may be able to see improved skin appearance after just a single session. There may be cases, however, where you’ll need multiple sessions, especially if you’re looking to address specific skin concerns.

How long the results last: The results of VI Peel can last for months, particularly with proper skincare following the treatment. Do take note, however, that this doesn’t mean that the skin won’t be susceptible to aging or any type of damage. As the skin ages, you’ll need maintenance treatments.

Are there side effects or downtime: There are no immediate side effects, but you can expect to experience peeling after 2 to 3 days, which will continue for up to 6 days. During this period, you’ll see unusual skin color changes in brownish, yellowish, or reddish tones. After the peeling is finished, you’ll see healthier and more beautiful skin.
