What is Hydra Dermabrasion and How Does it Differ from Microdermabrasion?

Hydra dermabrasion facial is now becoming more and more popular because of how it benefits the skin. Many consider it a better alternative to microdermabrasion, suggesting that it is safer and more effective, while delivering immediate results with no side effects.

If you’re still unfamiliar with this aesthetic treatment and are wondering if it’s worth a try, continue reading.

What exactly is Hydra Dermabrasion?

As its name suggests, hydra dermabrasion facial uses the power of water and oxygen to gently exfoliate and hydrate the skin. It consists of cleansing, exfoliation or T-zone intensive care, and hydrating the skin. Hydra dermabrasion is a safe and effective treatment for every skin type and can address a range of concerns.

The procedure starts with cleansing the face using a non-irritating soluble solution. This dissolves the sebum, bacteria, and cosmetic residue in the pores. It is then followed by T-zone intensive care to clear the pores and remove sebum and blackheads. The last step is moisturizing and nourishing using formulated serums.

At Cutis Laser Clinics in Singapore, we have two types of hydra dermabrasion facials: hydra-clarifying facial and hydra-anti aging facial. Both can rejuvenate the skin. The former delivers the additional benefit of fading dark eye circles and decongesting puffy eyes, while the latter increases cellular activity and improves muscle tone.

How does it differ from microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion uses microcrystals to exfoliate the skin’s top layer and clear out the pores. The procedure features a handheld applicator with a brush or abrasive surface to get rid of impurities and dead skin cells.

Comfort levels vary; microdermabrasion can be slightly uncomfortable for some. The procedure does not hurt, but your skin may be a little tender and red. It is safest and most effective when done by professionals, instead of purchasing a DIY kit and doing the treatment at home.

You can turn to microdermabrasion for:

  • Acne and acne scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Blackhead and enlarged pores
  • Pigmentation
  • Sun damage

Hydra dermabrasion is a newer technique of microdermabrasion. It combines the power of water and oxygen to remove impurities from the pores. The procedure also maximizes blood flow to the skin and helps stimulate the production of collagen. Hydra dermabrasion is safe for all skin types and can be customized.

The thing that separates it from microdermabrasion is its use of serums along with a vacuum-based skin abrasion tip, instead of an abrasive surface. It exfoliates and removes impurities while also delivering deep cleansing, exfoliating, and antioxidant serums in the skin.

This can help with:

  • Skin tone and texture
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Skin elasticity and firmness
  • Oily and congested skin
  • Advanced signs of aging

Which one should you try?

Microdermabrasion is more intense than hydra dermabrasion, so sensitivity and redness are likely. However, this does not mean that the treatment isn’t worth considering. Microdermabrasion is effective at treating deeper lines and scars. It can also help with dull complexion and uneven skin tone.

Hydra dermabrasion is a bit like microdermabrasion, but gentler. It is a good option for both young and older patients, with concerns like pimples, wrinkles, pigmentation, and sun damage. It is also a better alternative if you want a relaxing extraction treatment without redness or minor bruising the next day.

A consultation with a skin or aesthetic doctor will help determine which one is right for you. This will be based on what your skin needs and specific concerns.
