While the human skin is naturally resilient, certain factors like gravity, sun exposure, and bad habits can compromise its appearance and quality. The natural aging process, for the most part, causes a breakdown and decline in the production of two essential skin proteins: collagen and elastin.
We may not be able to halt the aging process, but we can reverse and delay some of its effects to have a rejuvenated appearance. The use of injectable treatments like dermal fillers in the form of a “Skin Booster” can give us healthier and supple skin with reduced appearance of lines, folds, and wrinkles.
Unlike traditional dermal fillers that are used to restore lost volume and contour the face, Skin Booster is used to improve the skin’s hydration in a single treatment for up to nine months. It can also improve the smoothness and elasticity of the skin.
A well-known brand of Skin Booster filler is Juvederm Volite. Continue reading to learn more about what makes Volite Skin Booster different from dermal fillers.
Dermal Fillers to Restore Volume
First, let’s learn more about dermal fillers. As mentioned earlier, dermal fillers are safe injectable gels used to “fill in” and restore lost volume in the skin. Most fillers today are made of naturally occurring substances in the body like hyaluronic acid (Juvederm) and calcium (Radiesse).
This makes the procedures safe with low risk of allergy. The fillers are also metabolized by the body and gradually disappear over time.
Apart from filling in lines and sunken cheeks, dermal fillers have a number of other anti-aging and skin rejuvenation functions such as:
Results can be seen almost immediately and can last from at least six months to two years, depending on the type of fillers used. Do take note that the treated area may feel different or firm due to the presence of filler. It can take about two weeks for dermal fillers to completely blend with the surrounding tissues.

Volite Skin Booster to Restore Skin’s Hydration
Juvederm Volite also reduces fine lines and at the same time improves hydration, elasticity, and texture of your skin. It is an innovative anti-aging injectable treatment from Juvederm, a popular brand of HA (hyaluronic acid)-based fillers. It can be used not only for the face, but also on the hand, neck, hands, and décolletage.
Unlike typical dermal fillers which are injected in certain areas, Volite as a Skin Booster involves multiple micro-injection points all over the treatment areas.
Volite hydrates crepey, dry skin caused by lack of moisture and aging. It also reduces scaly, rough texture and evens out skin depressions.
Just like dermal fillers, Volite skin booster also contains hyaluronic acid to improve the skin’s hydration, smoothness, and elasticity for up to nine months. It uses VYCROSS® technology, a manufacturing process that provides a high concentration of crosslinked HA for long-lasting effects. This also creates a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin.
What makes Volite unique is that it deeply penetrates the skin without minimal to no downtime. It also stimulates the body’s own natural collagen to improve skin quality. Studies suggest that it can last up to nine months and provide significant improvement in skin quality for up to six months, eliminating the need for multiple treatments.
Plumping effects can be seen after the procedure, but full results are visible after two weeks. There will also be possible pin-point bruises and needle-marks in the treatment areas that can last five to seven days following the procedure.

Keep in Mind
While both dermal fillers and Volite skin booster are safe and FDA-cleared, they are still medical skin procedures that should only be done by skilled and experienced injectors. Do take note that injecting these gels requires careful technique, attention to detail, and artistic skills to get natural-looking results and avoid complications.
Also, same as with other injectable procedures, bruising and swelling are common side effects of these procedures. Two weeks before your procedure, make sure to avoid taking fish oil, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications as these can increase the risk of bruising.
To find out if you’re a good candidate for these procedures, contact Cutis Laser Clinics today and schedule a consultation with our Harvard-trained aesthetic doctor, Dr. Sylvia Ramirez, who is an experienced injector of Juvederm fillers and Botox in Singapore.
