ZWave Improves Fat Freezing and Body Contouring Results

Fat freezing (Cryolipolysis) via CoolSculpting or ZLipo is a safe and effective non-invasive fat reduction treatment. Both procedures use controlled cooling temperatures to target and freeze fat cells to the point of natural elimination. They deliver noticeable fat reduction, with the crystallized fat cells gone for good.

CoolSculpting and ZLipo work well for stubborn fat bulges or those that don’t respond well to diet and exercise. They can eliminate 15 to 25% of localized fat cells in a single treatment for a more sculpted appearance. Fat freezing may also help you drop one to two sizes in clothing and motivate you to engage in healthy lifestyle habits.

While there is no doubt about what these procedures can do, you can take it to another level with another non-invasive treatment. Acoustic shockwave therapy via ZWave uses radial pulsed energy to further break down fat cells and improve your fat freezing and body contouring results.

What exactly is ZWave?

ZWave (from Zimmer Aesthetics) is an acoustic shockwave treatment that can reduce cellulite and help tighten skin. It uses a handheld device that delivers powerful radial shockwaves into the skin tissue. The high-energy shock waves penetrate the skin, creating a large impact on collagen structure and the skin’s connective tissue.

The ZWave-induced targeted vibrations help break down fat and tissues that cause cellulite. It also assists in stimulating new collagen formation to make the skin firmer and more elastic. Key benefits of ZWave include:

  • Non-invasive and pain-free with no downtime
  • Increases lymphatic drainage
  • Can be used on different areas (abdomen, upper arms, legs, and buttocks)
  • Helps improve cellulite and stretch marks appearance
  • Visible and long-lasting results
  • Good standalone treatment, but can be combined with other aesthetic treatments

How does ZWave help with fat freezing?

The thing that makes ZWave work well with Cryolipolysis is that it helps break up frozen fat cells underneath. It can replace manual massage by sending high-energy shock waves through the fat layers, prompting the treated fat cells to break up faster. This results in a quicker rate of fat removal and satisfied patients.

A 2013 clinical study by Jeffrey A. Hunt, MD documented the effectiveness of this combination treatment. The study found that patients who underwent fat freezing with an initial massage followed by four ZWave treatments weekly had over twice fat reduction (during each week) when compared to patients who underwent fat freezing and initial massage only.

According to the study, fat freezing or Cryolipolysis immediately followed by three-minute acoustic wave treatments result in faster fat absorption. This enables monthly Cryolipolysis treatments and body contouring/shaping results in half the time.

Improving cellulite with ZWave

ZWave does help with fat freezing, but it also reduces cellulite appearance by softening fibrotic structures and strengthening connective tissues. The use of specially modified wave pulses can tighten the skin and improve its dimpled and bumpy appearance. There is also the benefit of improving blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.

The good news is patients can see improvement in skin elasticity and firmness after just a few ZWave treatments. Noticeable results appear after the first two to three sessions that will continue to improve as you undergo more procedures. This can be beneficial if you’re trying to reduce stubborn fat and improve cellulite appearance.
