What exactly is Profhilo?
Profhilo is an anti-aging injectable treatment made from hyaluronic acid. Also referred to as a bioremodelling injectable, Profhilo is used for hydrating the skin, as well as treating aging skin that lacks volume and elasticity. It bio-stimulates collagen, elastin, and adipocytes (fat) stem cells for addressing skin laxity and other signs of aging.

Profhilo contains a mixture of low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid. The low molecular weight HA (L-HA) is for hydrating the skin and offering a hydration effect. The high molecular weight (H-HA), meanwhile, is for providing a stable HA structure that results in a lifting effect.
How does Profhilo work?
This injectable treatment hydrates and remodels the skin through a slow release of hyaluronic acid. Its high concentration of HA not only provides hydration benefits, but also firming, lifting, and tightening effects. It can reach multiple skin layers and mainly targets loss of collagen and skin laxity.
Profhilo stimulates the production of 4 types of collagen types I, III, IV and VII), elastin, and adipocytes (fat) stem cells. This injectable stays in the skin for about 28 days, where it stimulates essential proteins by slowly releasing hyaluronic acid. This improves hydration and skin laxity, as well as the skin’s overall integrity.

Profhilo is mostly used on the face, neck, and décolletage, but it can also be used on other parts of the body. These include the hands, chest, knees, and depressed acne scars.
Profhilo is considered to be safe and effective. It contains 100% pure HA, which the body metabolizes completely over time. Also, it does not have additives like Lycodine and BBDE, which are known to increase the formation of lumps.
As with all other injectable treatments, there is some minor discomfort. Topical anesthetic or numbing cream is applied before the procedure to make it tolerable and more comfortable.
With two Profhilo treatments, patients can expect intense hydration benefits. There are also lifting and tightening results several weeks after the treatments, along with glowing and smoother skin. Profhilo is said to take five years off your face.
Patients can immediately see results after the second session, which will improve over two to three months. However, there are also cases where patients report seeing improvements after the first treatment.
In general, patients can expect the results to last up to six months or longer. But since every individual is different, the longevity of results can vary.
Usual protocol is two Profhilo treatments, spaced one month apart. The number of sessions is fewer compared to other injectables like skin boosters. For each treatment, one syringe of Profhilo is used. Subsequently, one syringe of Profhilo can be used as a booster treatment every 6 months. For more mature skin, this usual protocol may be modified.
The downtime for Profhilo in Singapore is minimal to none. Just be sure to avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory medication, and alcohol 24 hours before the injection. You should also avoid UV exposure and exercise for 48 hours.
You may see some bumps after the injection, but these disappear within 24 hours. There is also some mild swelling and redness at the injection sites, which normally resolve within a few or several hours.
Profhilo is ideal for patients over 30 and are dealing with skin laxity, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. It can treat mild sagging and moderate signs of aging, as well as improve skin hydration and elasticity.
